Class Dojo – Home/Remote Learning

ClassDojo serves as a bridge between home and school. It provides a communication platform that allows teachers and parents to share messages and media. Families can connect with teachers and communicate privately1. Here’s how you can make the most of it:

  • Public Messages: Teachers can post messages for the whole class on Class Story or a selection of pupils via Messages within a class
  • Private Messages: Parents can send private messages to their child’s teacher through the app. Whether it’s a question about homework or a concern, this feature facilitates direct communication.
  • Portfolios: Pupils (or teachers) choose how work is submitted. Take photos, record videos, write journal entries, and more! Parents can only see their own child’s classwork when approved by the teacher.
  • Events: Create and post upcoming events and time limits
  • Weekly Reports: Parents can view their child’s weekly progress reports on ClassDojo. These reports provide insights into academic achievements, behaviour, and participation.
  • Dojo Island: A virtual world for the whole classroom to learn together through play.

2. Using Class Story

Class Story is a powerful feature for remote learning. Here’s how you can leverage it:

  • Video Lessons: Teachers can record up to 8-minute video lessons and share them with students. These lessons can cover new topics, review concepts, or provide instructions for assignments.
  • Announcements and Challenges: Teachers can post announcements, challenges, and text updates. This keeps students engaged and informed about class activities.
  • Links to Learning Sites: Share links to educational websites or online resources. Encourage students to practice skills independently by exploring these sites. For example Purplemash & TTRS
  • Attachments: Upload worksheets, printables, or other materials for families to complete at home. Attachments can be a valuable resource for reinforcing learning.

3. Getting Students Connected

To ensure seamless remote learning/Home learning, follow these steps:

  • Class Codes: Provide students with class codes or individual codes. This allows them to log in easily from home. Whether they’re using a web browser or a mobile device, access to class materials becomes straightforward.
