Year 5 and Year 6 showed great collaborative working in their recent DT projects. Year 5 developed their wood working skills to design and build houses using butt and mitre joints. They explored how to strengthen the joints and then set Year 6 a challenge…
Year 6 were given the brief of creating a home security device that would alert the homeowner (user/Year 5!) that a potential intruder was at the front door. Due to the current cost of living crisis, the budget allocated by Year 5 was £25. Year 6 researched home security methods (smart doorbells, CCTC cameras, burglar alarms and pressure pads) and decided that a pressure pad would meet the brief. The children then applied their knowledge of electrical systems to make a prototype pressure pad.
