It has come to our attention that many children in school are watching a show on Netflix called Squid Game. If you are not already aware of it, this is an extremely violent and gruesome show that ends with people being killed / mutilated if they fail to complete a task or win a game. I’m sure that even without seeing it, you can agree that this is wholly inappropriate for primary school age children. Many children in school are playing the games in the show and viewing this as fun on the playground, our concern is that they are also mimicking the violence part and learning that this response is ok. Please talk to your children about the importance of not watching extreme violence on TV at their age. Some children who have not seen Squid Game will hear about it second hand and may well be disturbed by what they are hearing from friends.
