Year 5 had a great time looking at budgeting. We thought about how much ingredients cost and calculated the price of different meals. We then looked at how much money we had for a week and what meals we could make with this money to feed a family. The children used written and mental calculations.
In Nursery, we have been exploring Cuisenaire Rods to help us build walls for our two little dicky birds and Humpty Dumpty. We used Cuisenaire Rods, comparing different lengths and heights. We learned some new vocabulary such as longer, shorter, bigger and smaller.

In Year 5, we have been learning how to multiply fractions. We have been using number rods to help us understand that multiplication is repeated addition. We used our stem sentences to help us – To multiply a fraction by an integer, I multiply the numerator by the integer and the denominator remains the same.
